Beyond Insulation: Things We Didn’t Expect From Maxx Cover

When we first designed Maxx Cover, the goal was simple: cover the exposed metal rear doors that many van owners leave uncovered.

In a lot of camper vans, the rear doors sit right next to the bed or living area, but they are often one of the last unfinished metal surfaces inside the space.

We wanted to improve insulation, reduce heat transfer, and create a more comfortable rear door area year-round.

What surprised us were all the additional benefits that came along with it.

  • More Finished Interior

One of the first things we noticed had nothing to do with insulation.

Covering the rear doors instantly made the van feel more complete. Instead of looking at exposed metal every time we turned around, the rear of the van felt like a natural extension of the living space.

It is a simple change, but one that can make the entire interior feel more intentional and finished.

  • Quieter Rear Doors

This was one of the most unexpected improvements.

While Maxx Cover was not designed as a soundproofing product, we noticed less echo around the rear doors after covering a large exposed metal surface.

It does not eliminate noise, but it can help create a calmer and more comfortable environment inside the van.

  • More Than Window Covers

Covering the exposed rear door metal can make the whole sleeping area feel more complete.

We designed Maxx Cover to cover the entire rear door, not just the glass.

That full-door coverage is what makes it feel different from a standard window cover. You still get privacy around the windows, but the exposed metal around the glass is covered too.

What surprised us was how much more complete the space felt when the rear doors became part of the interior instead of something separate from it.

  • Helps Reduce Condensation

Condensation depends on many factors, including weather, humidity, ventilation, and how the van is used.

While Maxx Cover is not intended as a condensation solution, we have noticed reduced condensation on the rear doors in certain conditions. Covering a large metal surface can help reduce direct contact between warm interior air and cold metal, which may help minimize moisture buildup.

  • More Than Just Insulation

We still believe covering the whole door is one of the most effective ways to improve comfort inside a van.

But after living with Maxx Cover, we have found that the biggest difference is not just insulation.

A more finished interior.A quieter space.A cleaner look.A rear door solution that goes beyond the windows.

Sometimes the smallest changes can transform how a van feels.
